Spenser Brinkman is a software developer working primarily in Ruby on Rails and React. He currently works at Prolegis, where he has spent the last three years helping to build and maintain a web platform used by federal congressional offices.

He works across the stack designing databases, building the data pipelines behind them, implementing search, and shaping the interface people use day to day. More recently, that has included some practical applications of large language models, such as automated summarization of congressional bills and agentic tools for development and testing.

Before Prolegis, he worked at a venture-backed fintech startup with a globally distributed team, building and maintaining the Rails services behind its financial data. He automated partner reporting that once took hours down to minutes, and mentored newer developers through code review.

This site is one of his own projects, built from scratch in modern Rails.

Outside of work, he spends as much time outdoors as he can, hiking, backpacking, and camping. Otherwise he's usually with his wife at the game, or at home with their 20-year-old chinchilla, watching the Giants or Warriors struggle to stay above .500.
