Dyrhólaey Beach

Dyrhólaey, a promontory near the southern tip of the mainland, is flanked on both sides by beaches of black sand; this one runs west for miles. Rising in the distance is Pétursey, a flat-topped mountain that was an island some ten thousand years ago before the coastline crept out from under it.
